Hectic lifestyle patterns giving you solid blues? If you are confused about how to deal with it, we know what can fix you. A perfect Balinese massage. This massage is your perfect way to revoke and revive your form, boost your energy, and redeem your productivity. This particular massage involves techniques that will work in soothing your damaged tissues relieving your muscle strains and joint pain. This is because this massage will help boost your blood circulation and this is quite effective to restore the balance of your body. Balinese massage is performed with aromatic oils that will also help in unwinding your stress. Therefore this is a perfect option to rectify your problems of stress and restlessness. Now let’s read more on What and How exactly this massage works.

Tracing The Roots

The people of Bali ( Balinese ) always valued the health benefits that massages offered. It is said that for centuries Balinese people practiced massaging their newborn babies for improved health. In every village, they had a skilled masseur who was designated as the village healer. The Balinese massage was often conducted when someone felt unwell. Today this massage is done worldwide to improve people’s total well-being.

Balinese massage is a perfect amalgam that bears the hallmark of a number of techniques derived from China, Indonesia, and India ( Ayurveda ). The techniques of applying acupressure and pressure points are said to be taken from China, the incorporation of beauty rituals which were practiced long back in the Java palace from Indonesia, and the use of therapeutic herbal oils along with the traditional methods of massage from Ayurveda which was practiced in ancient India. Balinese massage, later on, gained its popularity during the early half of the 20th century.

What Is Balinese Massage?

Balinese Massage is an administered full body deep tissue massage that works more like a holistic treatment for your body. It is a therapy that includes traditional healing techniques from parts of Southeast Asia, India, and China. This traditional massage is done with a combination of gentle stretches combined with acupressure and reflexology and at times combined with Aromatherapy in order to stimulate the flow of oxygen in your body which will, in turn, bring out a sense of wellness and relaxation. The techniques usually involve skin rolling, kneading, stroking, and pressure point stimulations. If you are feeling a bit low on energy, a Balinese massage could be your go-to go treatment as it involves a variety of massages that will address not only your physical upliftment but also your mental wellbeing. Balinese massage is also said to be beneficial for your reproductive health and also for improved colon health. The massage is also said to be capable of boosting one’s sleep patterns as it involves regulating blood circulation in your body, therefore helping your brain to function properly rectifying issues of sleep.

One thing that you should always keep in mind is to always discuss your medical conditions with your specialist before the session. This is because some techniques and essential oils may not work the way they do when under some medication. If you are pregnant, then it is advised that you consult your doctor before going for a massage.

How Is this Massage Performed?

Balinese massage can be performed on a massage couch or a floor mattress. Aromatherapy is something that will help change the course of this whole massage session. The use of scented massage oils occurs to be therapeutic and helps in lighting up your mood instantly. The massage oil helps the strokes to become fluid, free of friction, and thus doesn’t give you the slightest of pain or irritation. The masseur starts by treating the legs and then will go with firm movements in the back and arms and finally it will reach to slow massages on your scalp.

The masseur might use a bit of deep pressure during the massage. This is for the massage to work in your deep tissues and to help mend your knotted tissue and damages in muscle. Masseur will also go with long and gentle strokes and kneading to help you relieve tension and also improve blood circulation in areas closer to the surface of your skin. The treatment session usually lasts for 60 to 90 minutes. After the session, you will be all set to smell amazing along with feeling refreshed and re-energized. Make sure that you don’t let anything stop you from relaxing to your ultimate. If the massage makes you feel sleepy, go for it. You will experience one of the best and relaxing sleep after the session.

What type of Oils are used?

Therapists generally use vegetable oils that include sesame oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, Tahitian monoi as well as scented oils like rose oil and ylang-ylang. At times very rare and exclusively found oils ( some are found in Bali or Indonesia ) like the frangipani essential oils are used for administering a Balinese massage. This is very popular and appreciated by the people in those regions because these oils are well known to boost one’s mood. The use of these oils also acts as agents supporting the health of one’s skin mainly to make it stay hydrated and moisturized.

What to expect?

Balinese massage is therefore a perfect solution that will help reinvigorate your physical as well as a mental state in wholesome manners. The rhythm in which it is executed helps in relaxing your muscles makes you feel energized, restoring what was lacking in your system. This is the perfect recipe to spice you up if you feel jaded and exhausted all

With the COVID-19 virus spreading like wildfire, people all over the world have resorted to self-quarantine. Major companies all over the world are now encouraging their employees to work from home. Even in places where the threat of the virus spreading is low, people are doing all they can to avoid contact with others.

So if you’re stuck at home all day, there’s absolutely no need to give up on your self-care routine. Here are some home remedies that you can use if you can’t visit a spa near you. This is how to make the most out of your self-quarantine.

Body scrubs

You can enjoy a simplified version of a body scrub at home by following the recipe below:

Sugar and coconut oil (2+15 mins)

What you’ll need:

½ cup granulated sugar.

½ cup of coconut oil.

Method:

Mix all ingredients into a coarse paste. Do not heat the mixture as you don’t want the sugar to melt.

Clean your skin properly, and apply this mixture.

Use your fingers to gently massage the mixture in slow, circular motions.

Take your time. Spend anywhere between 5-10 minutes massaging the paste on your skin.

Wash the mixture off using lukewarm water and pat dry. You could then follow this up by applying a moisturizer for an added boost of hydration.

This scrub is excellent at exfoliating, moisturising, cleansing your face as well. The best part? All the ingredients are available at home, so you don’t even need to head out.

If you’re not a big fan of using oil, there’s another recipe that involves less oil. Mix ¼ cup ground coffee, ¼ cup granulated sugar, and anywhere between 2-4 tablespoons of coconut oil. The procedure is the same as above, just a lot more coffee-er!

Nail Care

Here are some ways to make sure that your nails remain healthy and beautiful.

You can use oils like olive oil, mustard oil, etc to care for your nails. First, clean your nails thoroughly. Then warm a small bowl of your choice of oil, dip your fingertips in it for about 15 mins. Let your nails soak in all the goodness. After you’re done, wipe clean with a towel. Repeat for best results.

Here’s a recipe that’s great at cleaning/removing stains from your nails. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a small bowl of water. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix and dip your fingertips in the solution. Let your nails soak for about 10-15 mins. Use a brush to gently scrub your nails, and finally give them a good wash.

If you don’t have baking soda, try mixing 2 teaspoons of sea salt, lukewarm water, and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Rest of the steps are the same as above.

Remedies for body aches

Majority of the people in self-quarantine right now are working from home. They are still sitting on a chair at home, trying to get work done. So chances are, they’re still craving for a good massage. If you’re one of them, here are some quick fixes for body ache.

For quick relief from sore feet, here’s a tip from the experts. Place the arch of your foot on a tennis ball (or something similar). Place one hand on a wall, and gradually put more weight on the foot. You can move your foot a bit to target other spots on your foot. This will feel amazing if done right. If it hurts, you’re doing something wrong. Although this provides quick relief from aches, it is always recommended you get a professional foot reflexology treatment.

You can use the same method for your back and thighs as well. To get a better experience for your back, fill a sock with 2 tennis balls, lie down with your back on the tennis balls. Position them until they’re on either side of your spine. Slowly put your weight on the tennis ball and relax. Repeat by shifting the tennis balls higher and lower along your spine.

You can work on your neck and shoulders too. Relax your shoulders. Bend your head forward till your chin meets your chest. Use 2 or 3 fingers to apply pressure to the spot where your shoulders meet your neck. Press firmly and hold, release when the muscle feels relaxed. Roll your shoulders slowly and repeat.

There’s also a DIY heat pad you can make at home very easily. Fill three-quarters of a sock with uncooked rice. Close it tight with a rubber band. Microwave it for 2 minutes, and you have your heat pad. Gently place it in the affected areas and apply a little pressure. You can also add a cinnamon stick and a tablespoon of cloves for an added aromatic experience.

These DIY treatments may be effective for people in self-quarantine, but if you can, it is always better to visit a spa nearby.

We hope this article proved useful. Drop your thoughts and questions in the comment section below. Until next time, stay safe and in good health!
